在C波段上線后的六個(gè)月里,包括ATT和Verizon在內(nèi)的無線公司將關(guān)閉發(fā)射器并對(duì)這些緩沖區(qū)內(nèi)機(jī)場(chǎng)周圍3.7-3.98GHz頻率的C波段5G信號(hào)進(jìn)行其他調(diào)整。這將使得它們不會(huì)干擾在4.2-4.4GHz頻率下運(yùn)行的航空設(shè)備。
這些設(shè)備包括無線電高度計(jì),它為飛機(jī)系統(tǒng)提供準(zhǔn)確的高度讀數(shù)。FAA和航空業(yè)一直擔(dān)心C波段信號(hào)會(huì)干擾飛機(jī)在惡劣天氣和低能見度時(shí)在機(jī)場(chǎng)降落時(shí)所依賴的讀數(shù)。
在緩沖區(qū)啟用的六個(gè)月里,F(xiàn)AA將跟航空公司和制造商合作以測(cè)試在C波段5G信號(hào)中運(yùn)行的高度計(jì)并取消對(duì)使用高度計(jì)的飛機(jī)的限制,這些高度計(jì)在這些環(huán)境中可以安全飛行。根據(jù)FAA的C波段常見問題頁面,那些不安全的高度計(jì)將被改造或替換。
臨時(shí)緩沖區(qū)包括完全禁止C波段5G信號(hào)的著陸跑道周圍略多于一英里的范圍,并為飛機(jī)在降落時(shí)提供20秒的無信號(hào)時(shí)間。
無線行業(yè)對(duì)這些區(qū)域有一個(gè)更具體的輪廓,它將在跑道前后2100米以及兩側(cè)910米范圍內(nèi)延伸。根據(jù)代表無線行業(yè)的貿(mào)易組織CTIA提供給CNET的一份文件,運(yùn)營(yíng)商將在跑道前后6100米的較窄路徑上減少C波段信號(hào)并限制地平線以上的信號(hào)功率。
緩沖區(qū)是美國(guó)運(yùn)營(yíng)商做出的另一項(xiàng)妥協(xié),以確保他們即將推出的C波段服務(wù)不會(huì)干擾關(guān)鍵的飛機(jī)儀器。Verizon和ATT分別在11月和1月推遲了他們的C波段發(fā)射,并在全美范圍內(nèi)降低了廣播的功率水平。
