[collection introduction]: Guangxu Yuanbao is one of the currency circulating during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Hubei and Guangdong provinces, took the lead in introducing British coining machines to mint silver and copper dollars. Later, all provinces followed suit. A total of 19 provincial bureaus cast copper coins. Except for the central household department, the provincial names were engraved on the upper edge of the obverse. Guangxu Yuanbao is the first large denomination currency in circulation in the year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. It is the first batch of printing and distributing currency to introduce overseas technology in China. It also has a certain historical significance for today. Guangxu Yuanbao made in Guangdong province belongs to a large series in the history of modern Chinese machine coinage. Its casting period lasts for a long time (from Guangxu 22nd year to Guangxu 34th year [1896-1908]). After more than ten years, the coin mold has been replaced several times. Even in the same casting year, the edition is often complicated due to many factors such as mold repair, coin material, process technology, factory management and so on.
In 1899, the Qing government wanted to recover the coinage right of the Beiyang mint. After that, the Beiyang Mint was retained by ministers such as Rong Lu. After several twists and turns, there are few Guangxu Yuanbao made by Beiyang mint, and the number of other Yuanbao circulating in the world is also less. With the passage of time, a large number of Guangxu Yuanbao made by Beiyang are also lost. As we all know, antiques and cultural relics are rare. The Yuanbao is naturally wrapped, well preserved and clear in texture. It is a rare treasure of Guangxu Yuanbao. The development of Guangxu Yuanbao made by Beiyang reflected the advance and retreat of China's monetary policy in the late Qing Dynasty, recorded a historical bump, favored by collectors and became the focus of many buyers.

Yuan Datou was one of the main currency in circulation during the period of the Republic of China. "Yuan Datou" is a colloquial name for Yuan Shikai's image series coins. Strictly speaking, it is called "Yuan Shikai's image back Jiahe silver coin". In order to rectify the currency system and unify the silver currency, the Beiyang government promulgated Article 13 of the national currency regulations in February of the third year of the Republic of China (1914), and decided to implement the silver standard system. According to the national currency regulations, "the price unit of Kuping sterling silver is 6 / 4 / 8%, which is named as the round", "one round of silver coin, with a total weight of 7 / 2, silver 89 and copper 11", "the number of one round of silver coin is unlimited", that is, one round of silver coin is the standard loan currency with unlimited compensation. According to this provision, in December 1914 and February 1915, a round of silver coin was successively minted by the general mint and Jiangnan mint, with the head of Yuan Shikai engraved on the coin surface, commonly known as "Yuan head coin" or "yuan Datou". "Yuan Datou" is known as the treasure of silver in the field of currency collection. It is the most widely spread and influential silver variety among nearly 1000 kinds of modern silver coins in China. It is also an important role in the reform of modern Chinese currency system.
