【藏品簡介】：在金屬貨幣中，中國是最早使用金屬貨幣的國家，歷史上又以銅幣為主。殷周時期，中國固以齒貝為錢幣，后因真貝不足，乃以銅貝代替，銅貝是向金屬幣過渡的形狀。我們的銅元誕生于1889年，在我國錢幣史上被稱為“機制幣”。中間無孔的銅元是仿照香港銅輔幣鑄造而成，外觀不同于歷代的方孔銅錢。銅元的誕生，標志著我國金屬鑄幣工藝由傳統的人工翻砂鑄造向先進的機器化生產轉變。

這枚民國時期湖南省造雙旗幣，是用機器鑄造的現代化貨幣，設計獨特。硬幣正面圈內嵌交叉五色旗和鐵血十八星旗，圈外上環書“鑄”字，左右飾以團菊花紋，下環為左右鑲有“當錢二十”的字樣。貨幣背面圈外是英文“TWENTYCASH”和“THEREPUBLIG OF CHINA”，內圈鑄有“TWENTYCASH”和“THEREPUBLIG OF CHINA”，本幣整體顏色古沉，其字體筆法流暢，雕琢精細，齒形整齊，排列整齊，深淺適中。
