《康熙字典》，是張玉書、陳廷敬等三十多位著名學者奉康熙圣旨編撰的一部具有深遠影響的漢字辭書。該書的編撰工作始于康熙四十九年(1710年)，成書于康熙五十五年(1716年)，歷時六年，因此書名叫《康熙字典》。由總纂官張玉書、陳廷敬主持，修纂官凌紹雯、史夔、周起渭、陳世儒、賈國維等合力完成。字典采用部首分類法，按筆畫排列單字，字典全書分為十二集，以十二地支標識，每集又分為上、中、下三卷，并按韻母、聲調以及音節分類排列韻母表及其對應漢字，共收錄漢字四萬七千零三十五個，為漢字研究的主要參考文獻之一。《康熙字典》入選中國世界紀錄協會中國收錄漢字最多的古代字典?！犊滴踝值洹肥侵袊谝徊恳宰值涿臐h字辭書。

《康熙字典》依據明朝《字匯》、《正字通》兩書加以增訂。對兩書錯誤之處，《康熙字典》還做過一番"辨疑訂訛"的功夫?！犊滴踝值洹酚羞@樣三個優點:
一、收字相當豐富，在很長一個時期內是我國字數最多的一部字典(直到一九一五年《中華大字典》出版，達四萬八千余字，才超過了它)。
二、它以二百一十四個部首分類，并注有反切注音、出處、及參考等，差不多把每一個字的不同音切和不同意義都列舉進去，可以供使用者檢閱。
三、除了僻字僻義以外，它又差不多在每字每義下，都舉了例子;這些例子又幾乎全都是引用了"始見"的古書。
