雞寶,原名雞黃,對于"雞寶”并沒有學術上明確的解釋，有的說法是指雞的膽囊結石,別名雞寶，是家雞干燥的膽結石。雞黃完整者多呈卵形,質輕，表面金黃至黃褐色,細膩而有光澤,屬于動物內臟基因突變的結果,一般長在腹腔。
中醫學認為雞寶氣清香，味微苦而后甜 ，性涼。歸胃經、心經、脾經、膀胱經。內服治陽瘺、早泄遺精、月經不調、高熱神志昏迷、癲狂、小兒驚風、抽搐、食道癌、胃病、反胃等癥，外用治咽喉腫痛、口瘡癰腫、疔瘡、療毒癥、尿毒癥等,是多種良藥的重要原料。
