紅山文化玉蟬龍
紅山文化是距今五六千年間，活動于燕山以北，西遼河、大凌河流域和渤海灣北岸的一支部族集團所創造的古文化。它的遺存最早發現于1921年。因遺址最早在內蒙古赤峰紅山后被發現，1954年命名為紅山文化。紅山玉器是紅山文化最為突出的標志和重要組成部分，代表著新石器時代晚期中國北方地區高超的制玉水平。據統計，出土的紅山玉器中，常見的有玉豬龍、玉箍形器(或稱馬蹄形器)、勾云形玉佩、玉璧、玉玦、玉鐲、玉丫形器、玉匕形器、玉人，以及玉梟、玉龜、玉蟬、玉鳳等各種動物形玉器。其中，玉豬龍又是紅山玉器中最具代表性的玉器，是目前所知年代最早的龍形器物之一。

此外，由于紅山文化發現并定性時間已經不很短，而其玉器也不可能只是1921年發現時才有出土，之前人們有所得是完全成立的，無非，在那個更早的時期人們并不知曉其具體年代和文化屬性而已。換言之，某些形態或者紅山文化某個階段的紅山玉器，其發現或早或遲，或有披露或從未披露，不為更多人識矣。基于此，簡單與帳中所藏紅山玉器，即可見一件之前極為罕見的蟬與龍組合而成的紅山晚期至夏代早期和田白玉咬尾“玉蟬龍”。

本品器形既鮮明有較為獨特，其分上下兩個組成部分，上部為龍形，無冠，下部為蟬形，尾部呈勾形，在龍頭龍身背上各有一個管形鈕。其中，大龍眼高凸，上唇上翹，紅山龍形風格一目了然。而下部蟬形鮮明，兩翼線條分明，鼓凸雙眼，形象逼真。龍形為紅山玉器典型造型，而蟬亦是紅山玉器中較為常見的形態（公開所見為獨立蟬形），因此，龍蟬組合于一起，雖然公開極罕見，然而這兩種形態，皆為紅山玉器典型的題材之一，故，二者組合在一件玉器之上，亦完全合乎情理，并無值得大驚小怪之處。

進而，我們知道，紅山玉器最基本的的特征，就是會在器物背上直接鉆孔，功能是便于穿繩佩戴。而此件雖無鉆孔，卻有凸起的兩個有孔短管，其功能亦能滿足穿繩佩戴或連接之需要。由于這一形態之前極為罕見，亦未見有過描述，故愚見以為，其當屬紅山晚期至夏代早期的產物。而關于后期產物的這一推斷，原因在于，不直接在背上穿孔，而另起管形穿孔，其不僅工藝要求更高，制作更復雜，也避免了直接在器物身上鉆孔帶來的損壞，也使器物更為美觀，是一種進步的體現。而將龍蟬組合，也賦予了器物更豐富的喻意。譬如，以龍表形，以蟬表聲，而得聲形并茂之意，會龍吟之意矣。

續再觀其玉色，可見其玉色青白，質地通透干凈，玉色溫潤，光澤內斂，呈油質感，包漿更是潤澤老道。而其通體受沁，其中龍背及管孔受沁更重，褐紅沁色，逐步暈散，純真無邪，局部可見沁痂，老而陳舊之痕可識，一眼可斷高古，數千年之痕跡鮮明，無需贅述矣。
