田黃石,簡稱“田黃”,因產于福州市壽山鄉“壽山溪”兩旁之水稻田底下、呈黃色而得名,為壽山石中最優良的品種之一。它有廣義的和狹義的之分:廣義的田黃石指“田坑石”,狹義的田黃石指田坑石中之發黃色者。在物理性質、工藝美術特征等方面,田黃石與壽山石基本相同或相近,但因其珍稀和昂貴,故早已成為獨立的印章石品種。
