中華民國所鑄袁世凱像背嘉禾壹圓銀幣，俗稱“袁大頭”，在正式開鑄銀幣前，同樣有用銅沖壓試機這一過程，其試機結(jié)果稱為試鑄幣。“初始試鑄幣”—是指任何一款機制幣，一切鑄幣工作已臻妥善，奉批開始鑄幣“后”所產(chǎn)出。“初始試鑄幣”產(chǎn)出后，經(jīng)過檢視，發(fā)現(xiàn)缺點，微調(diào)、改正、修圖，再重新鑄造，達可呈上御覽核批的階段，該批幣就稱為“試鑄樣幣”。之后，還有報審“呈報樣幣”階段，就是逐一向上報審批通過，之后批量生產(chǎn)流通的銀幣。
