天眷通寶，乃金熙宗完顏合刺天眷年間（公元1138—1140年）鑄幣。關(guān)于天眷錢，史籍雖無載其鑄錢史，然實(shí)物早已實(shí)證此錢不虛。鑒于過去長期以來，天眷錢發(fā)現(xiàn)時間較晚，因其早年于河南發(fā)現(xiàn)一枚楷書天眷通寶錢（前后發(fā)現(xiàn)者皆旋讀），曾為泉界側(cè)目，進(jìn)而列入中國古錢幣綱要大珍，爵位加身，名譽(yù)卓著。

天眷錢目前發(fā)現(xiàn)已知僅有數(shù)種，分別為“天眷元寶”小平篆書，“天眷通寶”折二真書，“天眷重寶”折三真書等，其中天眷元寶有2枚與天眷重寶為孤品，尚無任何拍賣記錄。而據(jù)華夏古泉介紹，“天眷通寶”所知僅3枚，其中一枚“天眷通寶”折二真書，在中國嘉德2013年春拍20周年古錢專場中上拍，此枚鑄工精湛，銅色溫潤，形制規(guī)范，包漿熟舊，穿口干凈利落，以241.5萬人民幣成交。

作為古錢中的大珍品，天眷錢鑄造的始末一直成謎，古泉界也一直難以蓋棺定論，多為仁者見仁，智者見智。不過，很多學(xué)者通過對錢文書體、形制風(fēng)范、鑄造工藝、出土區(qū)域以及社會歷史背景等進(jìn)行考究之后，發(fā)現(xiàn)符合“子母相權(quán)”三等幣制，認(rèn)為天眷錢極有可能是金熙宗在天眷年間實(shí)施漢化改制時所鑄。
