Yellow glaze porcelain plays an important role in the ancient ceramic art. Yellow has always been the special color of the emperor. Yellow glaze porcelain is also used by the court in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and it is not allowed to be used by the people.
Before Ming Dynasty, most of the low-temperature yellows were yellowish brown or dark yellow, not real yellow. Xuande ware is the earliest of the yellow glazed porcelains handed down. Most of the utensils handed down are plates. The inside and outside of the utensils are painted with yellow glaze. The glaze color is delicate, the glaze is plump, and the whole body has no lines.
In Hongzhi and Zhengde periods, the Yellow oyster reached the highest level in history. The color of the utensils was even and uniform, the glaze was smooth and traceless, the color was moist and delicate, and the gloss was good, just like chicken oil, which was the real yellow. Because the glaze is directly poured on the white glazed porcelain or plain body, the glaze layer is not easy to peel off, so it is called "pouring yellow". Because of its light color, it looks charming, also known as "Jiao Huang".
