祺祥通寶是清始鑄，還未發(fā)行，十月五日即被勒令廢除，“祺祥”年號(hào)僅存69天。鑄幣回爐鑄為“同治”錢（1861年），與祺祥重寶一起并稱為中國壽命最短的錢幣。 [1] 當(dāng)時(shí)所鑄多為樣幣，流通幣幾乎全被回爐改鑄同治年號(hào)錢，固保存流傳下來的祺祥錢極為稀少，被古泉界譽(yù)為清錢第一大珍。

The Qixiang coins preserved in ancient times were extremely rare, and they were praised as the most precious coins of Qing Dynasty by ancient spring circles.
此枚祺祥通寶闊緣無銹，直徑28.8mm方7.6mm內(nèi)孔3.3mm厚度4.7mm重量23.38克邊寬4.7mm，銅質(zhì)細(xì)膩，色澤金黃，面文“祺祥通寶”四字端莊嚴(yán)整，內(nèi)廓穿口具清錢特征；其銅質(zhì)精黃，鑄工精湛。正面文字挺拔，背面左邊為滿文“寶”，右邊為滿文“源”。“寶”有寶貨的含義，“源”指當(dāng)時(shí)清朝工部所屬寶源鑄錢局的簡稱。

The front text is straight and straight, the left side of the back is Manchu "Bao", and the right side is Manchu "Yuan"“ "Bao" has the meaning of treasure goods, "Yuan" refers to the abbreviation of Baoyuan coin casting Bureau under the Ministry of industry of Qing Dynasty at that time.
“祺祥”年號(hào)是在咸豐十一年七月二十六日確定的，并于八月間開鑄，但到十月初五廢“祺祥”年號(hào)后即停鑄此錢，這樣就是剛剛預(yù)鑄好的一批新錢未及來年使用便遭熔毀。幸好有極少量祺祥錢被鑄錢局的鑄匠和經(jīng)辦人私自存留，逃避過了被熔鑄的命運(yùn)。流傳至今，祺祥錢已成為了清代年號(hào)錢中的稀有珍品。

由于當(dāng)時(shí)所鑄造出來的基本上都是樣幣，因此保存下來的錢幣少之又少，因?yàn)槠浯媸懒可伲砸渤蔀楣佩X幣中比較稀少的品種。祺祥通寶目前存世量很少，而且想要收藏這類古錢幣也并非易事。
