【藏品簡介】：自咸豐三年五月起先鑄當十大錢，八月又鑄當五十大錢，十月增鑄當百、當五百、當千大錢。寶泉局咸豐大錢版本較多，書體變化較復雜，幣材有紅銅、黃銅、鐵、鉛等。 寶源局自咸豐三年八月始鑄當十大錢，十月開鑄當五十大錢，十一月又鑄當百，當千等，大錢幣材用水紅銅、黃銅、鐵、鉛等，版本、書體變化多，大小輕重差異較大。寶泉局咸豐百當以上大錢，遺存不豐。其中，咸豐元寶當五百大錢譜載版式大小形制二三種，多為樣錢、母錢和雕母。

展目本品，其面文“咸豐元寶”四字，直讀，背滿文與漢文“當五百”幾字，除滿文外，漢字皆楷書書體。品其書相，可感其楷書書寫頗見功力，起收有頓，轉折見鋒，筆劃橫直豎立，文字大小與布局規矩協調，整體（面背漢文）書意瀟灑大方，凸顯端莊俊朗，背滿文書寫亦是規矩有力。其中，可見其“咸”字和“寳”字書相更具個性特征，“咸”字長勾，“寳”字“大足貝”，與譜載雕母相似度很高，大錢書相之個性風格凸顯。故以其書相而言，無異無邪，其門得開矣。

本品鑄制十分規整，鑄體厚重有加，形制更大，續觀鑄相，方圓廓正，平整地章，穿輪干干凈凈。再見其字廓深竣挺拔，鼓凸自然有度。亦見錢文筆劃稍有粘連，大部清晰有加，鑄坑瘢痂與銅刺，凸顯翻砂鑄制之自然鑄相，彰顯本真。無需細表，其鑄相規整自然，毫無故作之態，具備官爐鑄品應有之范兒，開門鑄相絲毫不疑。

再察銹相。不難看出，本品乃傳世銹相，可見其包漿十分老道，并見局部類黑漆古漿質，潤澤透熟，整體包漿深淺不一，分布凸顯自然。續辯材質，乃青銅質地，銅色彰顯熟老。一言以蔽之，本品傳世包漿，一派自然天成之相昭然，偽不可及。故此等銹漿之相，可謂一眼開門矣。綜上所述，簡而言之，本品“咸豐元寶當五百”厚重大錢，三相一材，純真無邪，開門見山，毋容置疑矣。譜載亦罕，在實際收藏之中，亦是較難獵獲，謂之難得，毫不為過。故其雖非咸豐珍式，然以此等形重貌相，具有較高收藏價值，正是顯而易見矣。
