On the certificate, the head of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, the leader of the Republic of China, is printed in the middle, and the purple seal of "verified by Hunan Provincial Department of education" is stamped on the top left.
The text is arranged vertically from right to left. It is written by hand, in traditional regular script, with neat strokes. The full text is as follows: "student Tian CD-ROM, a native of Xiangxiang County, Hunan Province, is now 20 years old. He has passed the first class of mechanical engineering in the senior Department of our university and is allowed to graduate. This is the certificate." At the end of the paper, the red seal of "Hunan Lixiang Township senior industrial occupation seal" and the signature seal of the president are stamped. At the bottom left of the certificate is the bareheaded photo of the graduate, with the red seal of "Hunan Provincial Xiangxiang Higher Vocational School of industry", which was signed on "December, 1937 of the Republic of China". Different from the modern graduation certificate, there are two "Republic of China tax stamps" on the top left of the certificate, with a blue seal. During the period of the Republic of China, the Beiyang government began to levy stamp tax. At first, the stamp tax was only levied under the circumstances of issuing invoice, pawn ticket and company stock. Later, the scope of levy was gradually expanded, and personnel certificates such as passport and graduation certificate were collected. At present, the city archives has a wealth of graduation certificates from schools in Xiangxiang during the period of the Republic of China, which is of great historical research value
