1900年，兩廣總督德壽與前總督李鴻章奏準慈禧太后，仿香港銅仙鑄造機制銅圓。同一世紀1906年清政府停鑄“光緒元寶”，改鑄“大清銅幣”。就這樣大清銅幣得以流傳下來，但能流傳至今，現存于世的銅幣更是少之又少，這也就導致了大清銅幣十文價格一直處于市場基準高位水平之上。大清銅幣雖然鑄造時間不長，但版別繁多，根據內嵌地名小字就有二十個鑄幣局鑄造。各省局所鑄銅圓盡管其幣背皆采用龍型圖案，但龍型各異，種類繁多，再加上鑄幣局眾多，許多收藏家對其愛不釋手，熱衷于收藏不同版別的大清銅幣，十分有收藏價值。
