The silver coin of Hubei Province was coined in Hubei Province in 1896-1897. Different from the common silver coins of Guangxu in Hubei, the two characters of "local province" were added on both sides of the Dragon Figure on the reverse side of the coin. This is the only case in Chinese coinage, which is particularly striking, and hence the name of the coin. In addition, it is rare and unusual, so it has always been regarded as a famous and well-known product in China's rare silver coins and has been respected for a long time.
Made in Hubei Province, Guangxu Yuanbao Kuping silver coin with seven coins and two cents is a famous product and one of the "twenty treasures of Chinese silver coins". According to historical records, the coin was issued by Hubei silver yuan Bureau in 1896 after Zhang Zhidong, governor of Huguang, asked the court for approval. At that time, this was a necessary economic measure to deal with the situation that the supply of copper raw materials was tight since Xianfeng of Qing Dynasty, which led to the unstable price comparison between copper casting and silver, and the rapid development to the trend of "low price of money, expensive silver", the purpose of which was to use it to flatten the price of money and silver in Hubei Province, stabilize the economy, and indirectly resist the silver made in other countries, while the scope of use was limited to Hubei Province State and county within and adjacent to the provincial city. Different from the ordinary Hubei Guangxu silver coin, this silver coin has two characters of "province" added on both sides of the back Longtu to show that it is different from other provinces. This is the only case in the history of Chinese coinage, which is very striking, and the name of the coin is derived from it. But because of the fluctuation of the price comparison between silver and money at that time, it was not only the congenital defect of silver and money's double standard currency system, but also the change of supply and demand of silver and copper raw materials at the national and even global level. At that time, there was actually a situation that the silver dollar could be exchanged for 12000 Wen to 840 Wen. In addition, the compulsory administrative order was adopted when implementing this currency The decree stipulates that the merchants should pay all kinds of taxes and make money at a rate of one thousand to one to be converted into "local" silver dollars in the official special institutions, and then pay taxes. Therefore, the decree has been strongly resisted by the people, and the matching Hubei "local" silver coins have also been recycled and melted in large quantities under the circumstances of obstacles and difficulties. Few of them are scattered among the people. Therefore, the silver coins of seven coins and two cents in the Guangxu yuan treasure Bank of Hubei Province are rare and rare.
The authentic silver coins of Hubei Province, which have been handed down, are often stamped, and their causes have been puzzled by the Tibetan community for a long time. According to the historical data, the reason is that this kind of coin should be used for special purposes, and its price is higher than that of ordinary silver dollar, so we should guard against forgery. At the time of receipt, the official establishment shall be subject to special examination and stamped to show that it has been verified. It is both a responsible person and a credit provider. This method is commonly used in the circulation of silver in ancient times. It also has the reason of stamping for this coin, which is the key to distinguish the authenticity at that time. It is said that in the 1940s, pingyulin, the Shanghai coin merchant, had successively forged the three versions of one yuan. The first two editions are shallow and abandoned, but the third edition is only for personal communication with the mint staff. In the mint, professional machinery and the ordinary one yuan waste mould of Guangxu, Hubei Province, which was officially issued later, were used to add characters. The forgery degree is very high, which can hardly be true. In the old days, there was no real coin without a stamp, and what Ping's family had forged was without a stamp, so it was a fake coin. Whether there was a stamp or not was an important basis to distinguish the authenticity of the seven dime silver coin of pingqi, the Guangxu Yuanbao Treasury made in Hubei Province.
From ancient times to the present, people have the traditional custom of saving coins, especially the silver dollar in ancient coins has been a hot spot. Because silver is precious in material and of high artistic value. At the same time, the production of silver coins was relatively small. In addition to the factors such as the end of the Qing Dynasty and the continuous wars in the Republic of China, some of the more precious silver coins such as the seven coins and two Fen silver coins of Guangxu yuan treasury made in Hubei Province are rare and of great collection value.
