光緒元寶是清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一，由湖北兩廣總督張之洞率先引進英國鑄幣機器鑄造銀元和銅元，之后各省紛紛仿效。共有十九個省局鑄造，除中央戶部，地方省所鑄銅元，皆在其正面上緣鐫寫省名。

此枚極為罕見的“湖北省造光緒元寶當十錯版幣”錢幣，黃銅材質，背面龍頭偏移到正面寶字的底邊。正面鑄有銘文，頂部鑄楷體“湖北省造”，底部“當十”，中心直讀“光緒元寶”四字，左右分列滿文。
