太平通寶方孔錢幣，中國歷代王朝多有鑄造。以其用途，可以分為行用錢和厭勝錢（俗稱花錢）兩類。南塘有篆書開元視為中國歷史上第一種對錢。太平通寶篆書小平錢的發(fā)現(xiàn)和肯定，與隸書太平通寶一同，可以確定為中國貨幣史重要時期的綱要錢。對書錢和御書錢之先河，并形成傳統(tǒng)、制度，綿延三百余年，是中國歷史貨幣發(fā)展的重要階段。
