七眼天珠有七佛護佑眾生之寓意。莊嚴劫出現的三佛是毗婆尸佛、尸棄佛、毗舍浮佛，賢劫中有四佛即拘留孫佛、拘那含牟尼佛、迦葉佛、釋迦牟尼佛。這七佛皆已滅，所以叫過去七佛。

七眼天珠有七種布施之寓意。除財布施、法布施、無畏布施之外，佛陀開示即使沒有財富，也可以給人七種布施，佛陀認為七種不花錢布施：（1）和顏施：對于別人給與和顏悅色的布施，微笑面對別人，使別人有好心情。（2）語言布施：對別人說好話、存好心、做好事、做好人，勉勵別人切實厲行。（3）心布施：有為對方著想的心，有體貼對方的心。（4）眼布施：用和藹的眼神看人。（5）身布施：身體力行幫助別人。（6）座或床布施：讓座給需要的人，或為別人留宿。（7）觀察布施：不用問對方就能覺察到對方的心思，并給與對方所需要的方便幫助。
