Guangxu Yuanbao is the first large denomination currency in circulation in Guangxu year of Qing Dynasty. It is one of the first batch of printing and distributing currency that introduces overseas technology. It also contains certain historical significance for today. At that time, the "Guangxu Yuanbao" was cast by 19 provinces. In addition to the central Hubu, the name of the province was engraved on the upper edge of the bronze coins.
Beiyang is now the old name of Tianjin area. It was called Zhili Province in Qing Dynasty. In 1899, the Qing government wanted to take back the minting right of Beiyang mint, and then it was preserved by Ronglu and other ministers. After several twists and turns, the number of Guangxu Yuanbao produced by Beiyang Mint is few, and the number of Guangxu Yuanbao circulating in the world is relatively small. With the passage of time, a large number of Guangxu Yuanbao made by Beiyang Mint has also been lost. This Beiyang made Guangxu Yuanbao is very old, exquisite in workmanship, and of high quality. The characters are beautiful, the strokes are round and deep, and the regular script calligraphy is extremely dignified and grand, and the frame structure is balanced and extended.
The copper coins of Guangxu Yuanbao made by Fujian government bureau were made in the 26th to 31st year of Guangxu period (1900-1905). "During the reign of Guangxu, all the silver coins needed by Fujian Province were supplied by Guangdong Province. Because of the long journey, it took time to travel and remit, and it cost people a lot of money. Sun, the governor of Fujian Province, tried to cast it in Fujian Province. In recent years, according to the order of the Ministry of finance, businessmen were not allowed to attach capital stock or cast their own. After that, he planned to appoint Sun Bao, an alternate county magistrate of Zhejiang Province of Fujian Province, to handle the matter, and raise funds from the aftercare Bureau and Yandao. It was abandoned because of the lack of funds in the Bureau and the Treasury. "According to the historical records, the amount of this copper coin was not much, and the number of perfect coins was as few as stars.
