湖北省造光緒三十年大清銀幣雙龍一兩為光緒三十年(1904年)湖北銀元局所鑄。有大字和小字兩種類別，銀幣文字俊秀，龍圖生動傳神，堪稱清代龍洋中的典范。
中國向來是銀兩與制錢并行，后來西洋銀元大量流入，逐漸取代了使用不方便的銀錠。光緒十三年（1887年），兩廣總督張之洞奏準在廣東設局制造銀元，揭開我國使用正規機器自制新式銀元的序幕。新銀幣即是仿墨西哥鷹洋所制，重量是以七錢二分為準。然而在這轉變過程中，出現一種規格與眾不同，俗稱“湖北壹兩”的大型銀幣。

中外通寶一兩銀幣正面外圈鐫“中外通寶”四字，內圈豎鐫“銀壹兩”三字，橫鐫“關平”二字。背面外圈為首尾相連之雙龍，內圈鐫有八卦圖和太極圖。有關中外通寶銀幣的鑄造情況，錢幣學界目前存在著三種說法：一種說法認為，中外通寶銀幣系咸豐四年(1854)上海江海關成立，當局委托外國先進造幣廠鑄造；另一種說法認為，中外通寶銀幣是英國造幣廠代上海所鑄之專作納稅用之銀元，咸豐八年(1858)就有發現；還有一種說法則認為，中外通寶銀幣是朝鮮高麗高宗21年(1884)典圓局所鑄。
