廣東“壽”字雙龍光緒元寶銀幣，由于未見記載，因而對于它具體鑄造情況，至今還不明了。在民國時期，有人曾作過推測性的探討 。一種觀點認為：這種銀幣是光緒三十一年(1905)為紀念慈禧太后壽辰而鑄。持這種觀點的可以張炯伯為代表，他在《廣東省造壹兩銀幣》一文中寫道：“惟本品因未紀年，殊難遽斷，然觀其圖案，諧作福壽，環繞雙龍，幕無英文，意含頌祝，大異常制。由此以推，成為紀念幣之一種，專鑄以祝慈禧太后七旬萬壽者也。”另一種觀點認為，此幣系光緒三十年(1904)廣東造幣廠試鑄之幣。持這種觀點者以蔣仲川為代表(觀點見于其鑄《中國金銀鎳幣圖說》)。還有人認為是光緒二十年(1894)戶部推行“一兩本位”時廣東造幣廠試鑄之幣，并非紀念幣。所以說，此幣的具體鑄造情況，至今還是一個未解之迷。無論歷史事實如何，“廣東光緒元寶”銀幣在中國近代官鑄機制銀幣中的獨特地位是毋庸置疑的，其珍罕性和極高的收藏價值是泉界所一致公認的。

Others believe that the COINS were not commemorative COINS when the Ministry of Housing launched the "yi yi standard" in the 20th year of Guangxu Emperor (1894). So, the specific casting of this coin, up to now is still a mystery.
