毛主席用瓷也稱紅色官窯，紅色官窯：是指中華人民共和國成立后，在各種特定的歷史時期，某些特殊瓷廠在各歷史年代所生產的各種生活用瓷和裝飾用瓷，這些瓷器都帶有那個時代的烙印，成了見證這段時代的歷史文物，這些“紅色官窯”瓷主要包括文革期間生產的“領袖用瓷”“中央機關用瓷”以及饋贈國外元首的禮品瓷等。以景德鎮建國瓷廠、景德鎮藝術瓷廠、人民瓷廠、紅旗瓷廠、雕塑瓷廠、湖南群力瓷廠、輕工業部陶瓷研究所等單位，先后為中央國家機關生產過一定的生活用瓷、陳設瓷及禮品瓷，這些單位也堪稱當代的“紅色官窯”，并具有以下四點特征：

4、毛主席親點“水點桃花”紋樣，清新脫俗 當年“7501”毛瓷的設計者劉平設計了“水點桃花”的裝飾紋樣，先用玻璃白水點花瓣，畫出花形（不用鉤勒花頭輪廓線），再用水調彩料，在玻璃白上進行第二次點染，下筆準確、輕捷，達到花頭嬌嫩的效果。毛主席對這個花飾非常滿意，親點“水點桃花”方案，作為陪伴自己左右的專用瓷器。從此“水點桃花”也被專用來指代“毛瓷”，亦稱“紅色官窯”“中南海用瓷”。

這套毛主席用瓷的外飾在風格上力求簡潔、典雅、端莊，線條流暢優雅，器形飽滿，古樸大方。7501瓷是全手工制作，造型統一。其特點是傳統、飽滿，加工精細到位。器物上裝飾的'翠竹紅梅'構圖別致。花頭的正、側有度，花苞分布得體。整個畫面的造型是由老藝術家黃海云、舒松水勾勒，姿態各異，形態生動。花頭、葉子的混水是出自老釉下裝飾藝術人員之手，用色濃淡轉折相宜，前后有空間感。枝桿用色老嫩有度，花絲、花蕊錯落有致，整個畫面素潔、高雅。
