星云大師1927出生，釋星云，俗名李國深，原籍江蘇江都，為臨濟正宗第四十八代傳人。國際著名佛學大師，佛光山開山宗長，國際佛光會世界總會會長。1967年創建佛光山，以弘揚“人間佛教”為宗風，佛光山寺第一、二、三任住持。先后在世界各地創建200余所道場；創辦九所美術館、二十六所圖書館、出版社、十二所書局、五十余所中華學校、十六所佛教叢林學院；著作等身，有110余種佛學著述，并翻譯成英、日、德、法、西、韓、泰、葡等十余種語言，流通世界各地，對佛教制度化、現代化、人間化、國際化的發展，厥功至偉！
