康熙元年（1662年）清政府下令停鑄上代“順治通寶”錢(qián)，而改鑄“康熙通寶”錢(qián)，并規(guī)定以后凡是嗣位改元，所鑄錢(qián)制皆如此例。縱觀康熙一朝，在全國(guó)共開(kāi)設(shè)鑄錢(qián)局二十四處。由于受當(dāng)時(shí)冶鑄工本和錢(qián)幣私鑄等問(wèn)題的影響，每一文康熙錢(qián)曾分別重一錢(qián)四分、一錢(qián)、七分，這樣一來(lái)便產(chǎn)生了我們今天見(jiàn)到的大、中、小三種不同重量的“康熙通寶”錢(qián)。

康熙錢(qián)的背文除工部、戶部所設(shè)的寶泉、寶源兩局所鑄均為滿文外，其它外地各錢(qián)局鼓鑄的通寶錢(qián)，其背文左為滿文紀(jì)地，右為相應(yīng)的漢字紀(jì)地。后人為收藏和研究方便，將滿漢文紀(jì)地的局名編在一起，形成了一首押韻、順口的康熙錢(qián)“背文詩(shī)”。詩(shī)云：同福臨東江，宣原蘇薊昌。南河寧廣浙，臺(tái)桂陜?cè)普摹＿@首詩(shī)將“康熙通寶”錢(qián)背滿漢文的二十局都囊括其中。

This poem covers all the 20 rounds of "Kangxi Tongbao" with Chinese characters on his back.
