大勢至菩薩摩訶薩是西方極樂世界無上尊佛阿彌陀佛的右脅侍者，又尊稱大精進菩薩，與無上尊佛阿彌陀佛，以及阿彌陀佛的左脅侍觀世音菩薩合稱為“西方三圣”。
