此幣直徑：39.07mm，重26.7g。正面中央為孫中山側面肖像，邊緣內上鐫中文隸書體"中華民國"4字、下鐫"開國紀念幣"5字、左右長枝花飾。背面中央為中文隸書體"壹圓"及嘉禾，邊緣英文"中華民國"、"壹圓"，左右分列五角星(后改為六角星)。俗稱"小頭"。該幣作為中華民國國幣發行，流通不多，數量較少，具有很高的歷史價值、藝術價值和收藏價值。值得廣大錢幣收藏愛好者投資收藏。
