清朝初年設置江南省。轄地范圍為如今的江蘇、安徽、浙江、福建、江西、湖南等，之后江南省轄地范圍逐漸減少，直至劃分為江蘇、安徽兩省。江南省所鑄的機制幣在市場上流通的時候，江南省早已不復存在了，故它是我國貨幣歷史上唯一有省份之名分而無實際省份的一種錢幣。

這枚江南省造光緒元寶十文銅圓，正面上緣“江南省造”，“江南省造”的兩側左“乙”右“巳”，下緣“每元當制錢十文”，中間是漢文“光緒元寶”四字，中心有兩個滿文，譯成漢字是“寶蘇”兩個字，左“寶”由“蘇”；錢幣背面上緣“KIANG-SOO”,下緣“TEN CASH”,兩側各有一個實心五瓣花，中間一條長七尾飛龍，幣面文字筆意渾厚，結體方正凝重，意態跌宕萬端，于晚清龍洋中獨具一格，素為收藏者鐘愛。
