礬紅彩瓷器創(chuàng)燒于明嘉靖間，又名“鐵紅釉”，是一種低溫紅釉，色澤略顯橙紅，比高溫銅紅容易燒造，雖然呈色不及銅紅純正艷麗，但呈色穩(wěn)定。清藍(lán)浦《景德鎮(zhèn)陶錄》載：“礬紅釉，用青礬煉紅加鉛粉、廣膠合成。”礬紅不但可以自己裝飾瓷器，還能和綠色、藍(lán)色等不同顏色的釉彩進(jìn)行混搭，制作出色彩更加鮮艷的瓷器，斗彩、五彩、青花等不同種類的瓷器都可以見到它的身影。用這種釉料燒制出來的不僅色彩多樣，還是皇家祭祀的專用瓷器品種。這種待遇，可不是一般瓷器所能享有的。
礬紅彩瓷器到清康熙時，有了很大的進(jìn)步，色澤艷麗，一般用于五彩、斗彩繪制紋飾或施于純色釉器。嘉慶以后，礬紅色澤不甚佳，至光緒時才稍有起色。雍正朝礬紅彩瓷器燒造數(shù)量不多，但現(xiàn)存世器物多為精品。
