此枚錢幣正面內(nèi)外兩圈以逆時(shí)針的方向排列著“中華民國(guó)元年餉銀一兩”文字，珠圈內(nèi)為“餉銀一兩”;背面為兩面交叉的雙旗，旗上有五種紋飾的圖案。兩旗中間上下寫“壬子”二字。

按照天干地支算，“壬子”就是1912年，也就是中華民國(guó)開國(guó)之年。據(jù)《新疆圖志?食貨志》記載，1907年，新疆開始用機(jī)器鑄造以錢為面值的餉銀，緊接第二年開始鑄造以兩為單位的餉銀，但當(dāng)時(shí)的餉銀背面大都鑄造著以象征大清蟠龍坐像的圖案。1911年辛亥革命爆發(fā)，次年民國(guó)政府成立，為了慶祝推翻了幾千來(lái)年的封建社會(huì)，新疆喀什造幣廠立即著手革除象征封建帝制的蟠龍圖案餉銀，改鑄象征漢、滿、蒙、回、藏五大民族共和、平等的兩面交叉“五色旗”餉銀。銀幣上的紋飾設(shè)計(jì)很獨(dú)特，連圓圈在內(nèi)，五種圖案代表了五色，既象征漢、滿、蒙、回、藏五個(gè)民族，又表達(dá)出了一種喜慶、團(tuán)結(jié)和共和的決心，既有新疆的地域文化特色，又釋放出了一種包容、融合文化理念。
