This statue, with exquisite workmanship and beautiful shape, is a representative work of the same period. The statue is a Tara Buddha statue, which sits on the lotus seat half-way, with a lotus flower on the left and right shoulders, and its shape is vivid and beautiful. Towering bun, wearing a five-leaf corolla, with a Fiona Fang face and a calm demeanor. Wide shoulders and waist, well-proportioned. The lotus seat is pitch lotus-shaped, and its upper and lower edges are decorated with precise bead patterns. The lotus petals are full and slender, and they are exquisitely made. In front of the lotus pedestal, the six characters of "Da Ming Xuan De Nian Shi" are engraved with beautiful fonts, and the short vertical on the left side of "Nian" is replaced by a long point, which is similar to the style of official kiln porcelain in Ming Dynasty and has distinct characteristics of the times. The whole statue is a typical work cast by Ming court with beautiful shape, perfect gold water and dignified appearance.
Copper Buddha statues have high historical and artistic value because of their long history, vivid image and exquisite production. However, in the auction market, bronze Buddha statues are classified as "miscellaneous porcelain", which has not received enough attention. Until 2006, at Sotheby's Autumn Auction in Hong Kong, a sitting statue of Sakyamuni in Yongle of Ming Dynasty was successfully auctioned for HK$ 123.59 million, which set a world auction record for Chinese Buddha statues at that time, and made the bronze Buddha become a "dark horse" in the art market. In recent years, the value of bronze Buddha statues has been gradually recognized by people, and gradually sought after by collectors in major auction markets. The transaction price has also reached record highs, making it the most outstanding performance section in miscellaneous special auctions. Even during the financial crisis, collectors have hardly weakened their enthusiasm for gold and bronze Buddhas.
Emperor Xuande is a famous emperor in the history of the Ming Dynasty. He pushed the national strength of the Ming Dynasty to the golden age of "the grand event of eternal propaganda" with his own virtue and governance, which is worth remembering by future generations. During Emperor Xuande's reign, he ordered the import of a batch of red copper from Siam, and instructed Lu Zhen, the imperial craftsman of the court office, and Wu Bangzuo, assistant minister of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, to design and supervise the gold and copper Buddha statues with reference to the historical records such as "Xuanhe Bogu Atlas" and "Archaeological Map" hidden in the Imperial Palace. In order to guarantee the quality of bronze Buddha statues, the craftsmen selected dozens of precious metals, such as gold and silver, and carefully cast them together with red copper for more than ten times. The finished gold and copper Buddha statue is crystal clear and warm in color, and falls into the "Da Ming Xuande Year System". It is really a treasure bronze statue in Ming Dynasty crafts. Its lines are simple and smooth, plump and not empty, and it is close to people but not vulgar. With high artistic attainments and high collection value, it is a precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.
