同樣是畫竹子,不管是站在國學繪畫還是現代油畫藝術的角度來講,大家都一致地認為鄭板橋筆下的竹子最具有中國國畫的味道,鄭板橋是清代的一位書畫家,也是比較有代表性的文人畫家,是江蘇興化人。鄭板橋早年學書相當刻苦,他取黃庭堅之長筆劃入八分,夸張其擺宕,“搖波駐節”,單字略扁,左低右高,姿致如畫,又以畫蘭竹之筆入書,求書法的畫意。鄭板橋并不是什么畫都會畫,他一生只畫蘭花,竹子,石頭,自稱“四時不謝之蘭,百節長青之竹,萬古不敗之石,千秋不變之人”。
