中國古代有幾千年的“飲茶”“飲酒”文明,其中使用最頻繁的莫過于“杯具“。“杯”字起源于“抔”,雙手合捧之意。最早的杯是橢圓形的,兩側有耳,又名耳杯,要雙手持耳捧起來,喝酒。耳杯又名羽觴,當年蘭亭修禊時,王羲之寫“曲水流觴”,用的就是耳杯。耳杯裝上酒,還能漂在水上,陶瓷不行,青銅不行,要用木胎漆器,所以“杯”字從“木”。
