袁大頭學名“袁世凱像背嘉禾壹圓銀幣”，是民國初期袁世凱出任大總統后統一幣制發行的貨幣，該幣反面為嘉禾圖案，亦泛指生長茁壯的禾稻，古人視為吉祥的征兆，雕刻于錢幣之上有有國泰民安、吉祥如意之愿景,之所以稱它為簽字版，是因為這枚幣在袁世凱像右側，刻有一行英文字母“L.GIoRGI”，是在華外籍鑄幣專家意大利雕刻師“魯爾治-喬治”簽名縮寫。
