此藏品為中華民國三年袁大頭壹圓銀幣。因其首鑄于民國三年，又有稱“民三”者，此類別稱由來已久。作為民國軍閥銀幣的領頭羊，“大頭”系列對錢幣收藏愛好者來說，并不陌生。“袁大頭”銀元的誕生，也是銀元發展的必然結果。在辛亥革命后，袁世凱為了解決軍費和提高個人政治地位而發行的銀元貨幣，因這些銀元鑄有他的側身圖像而得名。“袁大頭”在貨幣收藏界被稱為銀元之寶，它是中國近千種近代銀幣中流傳最廣、影響最大的銀元品種，也是近代中國幣制變革中的一個重要角色。此枚袁大頭為中華民國三年，包漿熟舊品相完好。字跡清晰，邊齒平整，大小一致，齒深深淺一致 ，背圖嘉禾規范清晰，為不可多得的收藏佳品。

民國時期時錢幣的換算關系和現在一樣，以十進位，1元等于十角，一角等于十分，一分等于十厘。自從《國幣條例》公布以后，天津造幣廠就開始鑄造袁大頭1元銀元，后來，南京、廣東、武昌等造幣廠也都開始陸續鑄造發行袁大頭銀元。由于袁大頭1元銀元幣型規整，圖案新穎，有明確的重量和成色，容易識別，因此，袁大頭銀元很快就被老百姓接受，并很快在全國的范圍內流通。因袁大頭壹圓銀幣幣型劃一，成色、重量有嚴格規定，很快受到了社會認同和接受，在國內金融市場上逐步取代了清朝的龍洋，成為流通領域的主幣。試鑄幣就是沒有進入市場使用的。其實民國試鑄幣就是當時從國外買過來的機器，因為第一次鑄造，用銀改為銅，用銅水冷卻后機器鑄壓，試鑄幣是當時的完成品樣品。是后續鑄銀幣的對照品，整個國家這種版別才幾枚到十幾枚而以。機制幣的制作生產，從祖模設計、工具模翻制，從銅料熔煉，到壓軋銅板、制作銅餅、晃洗、退火、滾邊、印花等，前后涉及到的工藝流程有十幾個環節，需要不同技術工種緊密配合，可以說機制幣的生產過程，就是一件藝術品的繪制過程。這枚中華民國三年袁大頭試鑄幣的大小規格、文字圖案和紀地紀值等特點，都與華書所載的中華民國三年袁大頭銀圓十分一致，因此，可以判定這枚銅幣確系同一銀模所鑄。錢幣的正面中間為袁世凱戎裝左側面像，上方為“中華民國三年”，背面圖案是兩株交叉的稻穗，中央為“壹圓”字樣。紋飾線條粗細均勻，筆畫堪暢自然，層次感強，視覺效果好，錢文清秀俊逸，浮雕感明顯，可見匠師的雕刻工藝十分高超。這枚錢幣的銅材質地優良精美，不似私家所鑄之錢幣。試鑄幣存世量極少，流傳到民間的更少，具有極高的收藏和觀賞價值。

The trial coining was a sample of the finished product at that time. It is the reference for subsequent silver coins. The whole country has only a few to a dozen copies of this edition. The production of machine-made coins involves more than a dozen links from ancestor mould design, tool mould duplication, copper smelting, rolling copper plate, making copper cake, shaking washing, annealing, rolling and printing. It requires close cooperation of different technical types. It can be said that the production process of machine-made coins is the drawing process of an artwork. The size, character, pattern and chronology of the three-year trial coin coined by Yuan Datou in the Republic of China are in good agreement with the three-year silver coin of Yuan Datou in the Chinese book. Therefore, it can be determined that the coin was coined by the same silver model.
