四川銅幣軍政府是由四川銅元錢幣演變過來的，最早銅元清光緒二十八年(1902)，川督岑春煊始議鑄造銅元。光緒二十九年(1903)六月，建立四川銅元局，其規(guī)模不大，僅就原購鑄小制錢的廢機修整使用．廠房是機器局的壓銅廠和舊的銅錢廠，鑄料是機器局的槍彈廢殼邊渣和寶川局余銅，圯煉凈盡。按銅96%、鉛0.1%及其他的比例配鑄“當五”、“當十”銅元。辛亥革命后，四川大漢軍政府于民國元年廢除龍紋大清銅幣模式．改鑄四川銅幣軍政府造“當十”、“二十”和“當五十”文三種面值的銅幣，正面為“四川銅幣”四字，中問有一枚海棠花，有“軍政府造”，下邊為當制錢若干文，反面中問有一圈，圈內為篆文“漢”字，圈外還環(huán)繞有十八個小圈，小圈上有“中華民國元年”六字。民國2年(1913)，又添鑄“當一百”銅元，當一百銅元的模式與當五十的相同。

After the Revolution of 1911, the Dahan military government in Sichuan abolished the pattern of Long Wen Da Qing copper coins in the first year of the Republic of China. Instead, the military government made copper coins with three denominations of "Dang Shi", "Twenty" and "Dang 50", with the words "Sichuan Copper Coin" on the front, a Chinese flowering crabapple in the middle and "made by the military government" on the bottom, and a circle in the back. In 2 years of the Republic of China (1913), "Dang 100" copper coins were added, and the model of Dang 100 copper coins was the same as that of Dang 50.
民國三年軍政府造四川銅幣，銅幣正面中央珠圈內有“四川銅幣”四字，上下左右分列，其中心飾有芙蓉花紋。珠圈上緣書“軍政府造”四字，下緣為“當制錢壹百文”字樣，標明幣值，左右飾以花星紋飾。銅幣背面中央大圓圈內為一篆書“漢”字，“漢”字底有數(shù)十條橫直紋，因而錢幣收藏者也稱之為“漢”字銅元。“漢”字圓圈外還環(huán)繞有18個小圓圈，代表當時的十八個省份。把18個小圓圈圍繞著“漢”字聯(lián)成一體，寓意十八省人民團結起來共同為“驅逐韃虜，恢復中華”而戰(zhàn)斗。它帶有辛亥革命那一時期鮮明的時代印記，見證了那一段波瀾壯闊的民國歷史!
