關于宣德爐的來歷，有史記載宣德皇帝在位時，傳說宮內的佛殿失火，金銀、銅像都混成液體。又傳說是佛典起火，金銀珠寶與銅都燒結在一起，于是宣德皇帝命令將其鑄成銅爐。宣德皇帝詢問鑄工說，銅煉幾次才能精純?鑄工回答說用六火煉銅，就會現出珠寶的光彩。于是宣德皇帝命令煉十二火，把銅做成條。再用赤火熔化銅條，置于鋼鐵制成的篩格上，把先滴下的最精純的選取出來制成爐，把仍存于篩格上的取出來制成其他的器物。
About the origin of Xuande Furnace, it is recorded in history that when Emperor Xuande was in office, it was said that the Buddhist temple in the palace caught fire, and gold, silver and bronze statues were mixed into liquid. It is also said that Buddhist scriptures caught fire, and gold, silver, jewelry and copper were sintered together, so Emperor Xuande ordered them to be cast into copper furnaces. Emperor Xuande asked the caster how many times can copper be refined? The caster replied that if copper is refined with six fires, it will show the brilliance of jewelry. So Emperor Xuande ordered twelve fires to be made into strips of copper. Then use Rise of the Legend to melt the copper strip, put it on the sieve grid made of steel, select the purest one dropped first and make it into a furnace, and take out what is still on the sieve grid and make it into other utensils.
此爐器身整體呈現出由紫銅轉變成的銅紅色，包漿自然，厚重，形體飽滿。底部刻有大明宣德年制六字，字體自然舒朗，優美大方。皮色呈臘黃，實蘊藏經，寶光溢彩，銅質金燦似火，黃銀相滲，赤色密潤，為混合精煉銅也，細密膩實，必得十二煉，方可鑄出此等高器也。整體貴重大氣，神韻高尚，是為廳堂上光耀重器也。且傳承有序，極品佳器，具有極高的藝術價值與收藏價值。
