元朝是蒙古貴族的政權。蒙古族的鐵蹄曾踏到歐洲的多瑙河畔,建立了幅員廣闊的蒙古汗國,在這樣一個橫跨歐亞兩大洲的蒙古族統治區域內,以前各割據地區間中斷了的交往和聯系開始恢復,并逐漸加強,沒有阻礙,甚至那條古老的絲綢之路也比歷史上任何時期都來得安全和暢通。另一方面,在依靠武力西征的過程中,大批中亞、波斯和阿拉伯的制陶工匠們被迫東遷中國,也許是他們帶來了藍彩陶器的制作技術,也許是景德鎮工匠自覺掌握了鈷藍的發色原理,其實這些已都不重要,重要的是在蒙古貴族統治的大文化圈下,伊斯蘭文化中喜聞樂見的藍彩繪畫遇到了景德鎮的優質瓷土,兩相結合,便生產出了質高貌美的青花瓷。

On the other hand, in the process of western expedition by force, a large number of pottery craftsmen from Central Asia, Persia and Arabia were forced to move eastward to China. Perhaps they brought the production technology of blue pottery, and perhaps Jingdezhen craftsmen consciously mastered the principle of cobalt blue hair color. In fact, these are not important. What is important is that under the big cultural circle ruled by Mongolian aristocrats, the blue color paintings loved and heard in Islamic culture met the high-quality porcelain clay in Jingdezhen, and the combination of the two produced high quality and beautiful.

元青花的紋飾也極有特點。概括起來,一是內容豐富,主體紋飾包括走獸翎毛、花卉瓜果、蟲魚、人物和雜寶等,邊角及輔助紋飾更是多種多樣。二是分層較多,少則三層,多至九層。三是布局繁滿。上下看,紋飾頂天立地;左右看,圖像如首尾相接的幻燈片;具體觀每一片紋飾,大多密密匝匝,很少有像中國畫常要求的“留白”。元青花的紋飾可謂是繁而不縟、多而不亂、密而不匝,有一種特殊的、兼具東西藝術神韻的美感。元青花瓷裝飾意味濃厚的構圖方式、穩重的色彩、釉下繪畫靈動的表現力,在中國陶瓷史上具有空前絕后的歷史地位。

此青花云龍紋梅瓶,高29cm肚15.5cm,此瓶小口,帶蓋,蓋上有寶珠形紐,圓肩,肩下漸收,平底。蓋面雙圈紋,蓋之立壁上繪折枝花卉。梅瓶肩飾正反連貫的纏枝花卉紋。脛部繪卷草紋一周,足部繪蓮瓣紋,內填繪花卉紋和滴珠紋,蓮瓣間留出空隙,疏密有致。腹部主題紋飾繪云龍紋,龍昂首前視,飄逸靈動,矯健曲身,極具神采,龍身周圍祥云朵朵,烘托出龍蒼勁、灑脫、雄偉之勢,整體筆法灑脫豪放,青花一色蒼翠妍麗,有如水墨之凝重暈染,頗得筆墨意趣。青花色澤濃艷而有變化,使畫面具有層次感,為青花梅甁中不可多得的佳品。通身施釉,釉色白中帶青。縱觀全器,不掩其蒙元盛世所特有的雄健之風,令人每每視之,在感受元代工藝之美。
