袁大頭是民國(guó)時(shí)期主要流通貨幣之一，“袁大頭”是對(duì)袁世凱像系列硬幣的口語(yǔ)俗稱，嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)點(diǎn)說(shuō)叫“袁世凱像背嘉禾銀幣”。辛亥革命以后，袁世凱就任“臨時(shí)蘢芡場(chǎng)敝職，后又成為正式大總統(tǒng)。當(dāng)時(shí)，為了鞏固國(guó)內(nèi)政局穩(wěn)定，發(fā)展民族經(jīng)濟(jì)，也為“制憲”和“稱帝”作準(zhǔn)備，于是發(fā)布《國(guó)幣條例》，毅然決定在全國(guó)“統(tǒng)一幣制”。
