1911年，辛亥革命勝利，中華民國宣告成立，結(jié)束了清王朝267年的統(tǒng)治。四川軍政府成立之初面臨財政窘迫的局面，因而迅速接管了四川成都造幣廠，決定鑄造“四川銅幣”應(yīng)急，也稱“漢”字銅元。民國元年，四川軍政府命令四川成都造幣廠開模制造了“軍政府造”四川銅幣。
In 1911, with the victory of the Revolution of 1911, the Republic of China was proclaimed, ending the 267-year rule of the Qing Dynasty. At the beginning of its establishment, Sichuan military government faced financial distress, so it quickly took over the Mint in Chengdu, Sichuan, and decided to cast "Sichuan Copper Coin", also known as "Han" copper coin. In the first year of the Republic of China, the Sichuan military government ordered the Chengdu Mint in Sichuan to mold and manufacture Sichuan copper coins made by the military government.
開鑄之初僅發(fā)行十文、二十文兩種錢幣。同年5月，又添鑄當(dāng)一種，當(dāng)年計鑄十文銅元6055萬余枚，二十文銅元1247萬余枚，五十文銅元935萬余枚。民國2年，除繼續(xù)鑄造十文、二十文、五十文銅元之外，又增鑄重五錢八分的一百文銅元，是當(dāng)時鑄造最少的。

這枚銅幣就是“軍政府造”當(dāng)制錢壹百文四川銅幣，錢幣品相完好，包漿醇厚，銹色自然，不論是文字還是圖案，都顯得自然細(xì)膩，深淺合適，很有立體感。正面中書“四川銅幣”四字，其銅字的金旁連書四畫。中心作盛開海棠花，上邊為“軍政府造”四字，下邊為幣值“當(dāng)制錢壹百文”六字；背面用十八小圈繞一大圈，代表當(dāng)時的18個省份，圈內(nèi)篆文“漢”字，代表了新政府“大漢”的意思，寓意十八省份團結(jié)起來共同為“驅(qū)逐韃虜，恢復(fù)中華”而戰(zhàn)斗，以直線紋為底；上邊鑄“中華民國二年”字樣，兩側(cè)各有一個四星花瓣。
