Ru kiln is the first of the five famous kilns in the Song Dynasty. In Song Dynasty, Ru kiln was the first place in the evaluation of celadon. Ru official porcelain body is fine and dense, with thin and hard walls. Its body color is like the burnt ash. The valley is called "fragrant ash body". Its glaze colors are azure, sky blue and pink blue. The light one is blue like the blue sky, the deep one is called sky blue after rain, and the one with soft and clear spring water is pink green, which is known as "sky blue is precious, pink blue is still, sky blue is precious". Ru official porcelain with precious agate into the glaze, yinghou if pile fat, elegant and pure, the quality of beauty. The people of the world once had the reputation of "like jade, not jade but better than jade".
Ru kiln, the top five kilns, is "as green as the sky, jade like surface, cicada wing pattern, few morning stars, and satisfied with sesame branch nail glaze". This characteristic of Ru porcelain is said to be due to a dream of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty. Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty dreamed that the sky would be blue after the rain. When he woke up, he asked to make porcelain to "break through the clouds after the rain", so that the craftsmen could make such fascinating porcelain. Finally, Ruzhou craftsmen were better at their skills. From then on, there was a kind of porcelain handed down in the world -- Ru kiln porcelain. The sky blue glaze also became a typical feature of Ru kiln porcelain. As a matter of fact, the earliest formulation of "clear sky after rain" did not originate from Huizong of Song Dynasty, but from Chai Rong, the second emperor of the Later Zhou Dynasty in Five Dynasties. At that time, Chai Rong wrote the characteristics of the Chai kiln as "the rain passes through the sky, the blue clouds break through, and the color will be the future." Because the sky blue color is indeed a major feature of Ru kiln, the legend of later generations attached to the dream of song Huizong for the birth of Ru kiln.
