宣德爐的基本形制是敞口、方唇或圓唇，頸矮而細，扁鼓腹，三鈍錐形實足或分襠空足，口沿上置橋形耳、了形耳或獸形耳，銘文年款多于爐外底。宣爐以銅為主要材料，此外還有金、銀等貴重材料加入，所以爐質特別細膩，呈暗紫色或黑褐色。一般爐料要經(jīng)四煉，而宣德爐要經(jīng)十二煉，因此爐質會更加純細，一如嬰兒肌膚。鎏金或嵌金片的宣德爐金光閃閃，更給人不同凡器的感覺。此件明代宣德爐以精制黃銅制成，高11cm，口徑21cm，重4.55kg，底書“大明宣德年制”楷書款，毛膛。三模合范范線痕類似“大奔”標志刻痕，這樣的六字款目前僅見。其爐身形制規(guī)整，敦厚之中不失靈巧精致。焚香于其內，數(shù)百年歷史的厚重感隨香外溢。它通體光素，盡顯銅爐精純美質，銅質精良，入手沉甸。
