孫中山先生是中國革命的先驅者與偉人，1911年12月29 日，經辛亥革命后，已光復的17省代表在南京推選孫中山為中華民國臨時大總統。1912年1月3日，中華民國政府宣告成立，清朝滅亡，在中國持續2000 多年的封建君主專制隨之結束。孫中山是偉大的民族英雄，為了讓世人銘記孫中山先生的豐功偉績，在民國成立時，由于幣制尚未建立，除四川改鑄大漢銀幣，福建改鑄中華元寶外，主要的造幣廠，大都仍沿用前清鋼模鑄造銀幣，以供流通需要。由于幣制混亂，臨時政府財政部長陳錦濤，于民國元年3月11日呈文大總統孫中山，鼓鑄1000萬元紀念銀幣以為整頓。
Sun Yat-sen was apioneer and great man of the Chinese revolution. On December 29,1911, after theRevolution of 1911, Sun Yat-sen was elected as the interim president of theRepublic of China in Nanjing. On January 3,1912, the government of the Republicof China was established, the Qing Dynasty died, and the feudal monarchy thatlasted for more than 2000 years in China ended. Sun Yat-sen is a great nationalhero, in order to let the world remember the great achievements of Sun Yat-sen,in the founding of the Republic of China, because the currency system has notyet been established, except Sichuan to cast Han silver coins, Fujian to castthe Chinese Yuanbao, the main mint, most of the former Qing steel diecasting make silver coins forcirculation needs. 此枚藏品為中華民國二十三年雙帆孫小頭，直徑：3.969cm重量：27.1g，系民國二十三年上海中央造幣廠所鑄。整幣通體為雪花銀鑄造，正面上端鑄有“中華民國二十三年”字樣，下端為孫中山側面像，背面中央兩端鑄有“壹圓”，中間有一雙桅帆船正乘風破浪。此幣文字清晰，圖案精美，頭像生動傳神，鑄造技術非常精湛，而且這枚藏品保存較好，其色澤自然，雖稍有銹跡卻無礙其品相，反而更顯自然細膩，圖文深淺合適。幣中孫中山頭像栩栩如生。設計新穎，鑄工精湛；具有極高的收藏價值和藝術價值！
