雞血石是昌化石中的精華，據史書記載，昌化石最早最為雕刻印章材料，之后雞血石材料的印章揚名海外。在古代，石雕界有了“雞血、田黃石”，將罕見的田黃石稱為“印帝”、雞血石稱之為“印后”，是獨特的印章珍寶，雞血石的血集合很多礦物質組成，集合了辰砂、地開石、高嶺石等，是我國特有的珍貴寶石品種之一，位列“中國四大印章名石”之一的昌化石中的著名品種。雞血石僅蘊藏在玉巖山腰金雞山旁一塊不大的地段中，目前在其它地段中還未發現它的存在。
