民國期間，軍閥混戰，逐鹿中原；河南省每一任督軍、主席上臺后，為了維持龐大的軍費開支都大鑄特鑄銅元，以牟取暴利。1927年5月上旬，武漢國民政府的北伐軍與國民軍聯合進攻河南的奉軍，迫使奉軍撤出河南。河南戰事告一段落后，馮玉祥任河南省主席。1928年3月，國民軍創辦河南農工銀行，總行設在省政府所在地開封。雖說屬官商合辦性質，但商股不足十分之一。同年10月16日，該行開始發行銅元票1000萬串，10月并入西北銀行。為兌付紙幣，馮玉祥令河南銅元局開鑄當百銅元，其中還有部分當貳佰銅元。
During the period of the Republic of China, warlords fought against the Central Plains, and every governor and chairman of Henan Province, in order to maintain huge military expenditure, made large amount of special copper coins to make huge profits. In the first ten days of May 1927, the Northern Expedition army of Wuhan National Government and the National Army jointly attacked Fengjun in Henan, forcing Fengjun to withdraw from Henan. Feng Yuxiang was appointed chairman of Henan Province. In March 1928, the National People's Army established Henan agricultural and Industrial Bank, with its head office in Kaifeng, where the provincial government is located. Although it is a joint venture of government and business, the commercial shares are less than one tenth. On October 16 of the same year, the bank began to issue 10 million series of copper yuan notes, which were incorporated into northwest bank in October. In order to cash the paper money, Feng Yuxiang ordered the Henan Tongyuan bureau to cast 100 copper yuan, and some of them were 200 copper yuan.
