官帽椅分為兩種，一種是四出頭官帽椅，四出頭官帽椅始于中國(guó)宋朝時(shí)期，是一種是家具檔次的象征。是明式扶手椅的典型式樣之一，其特點(diǎn)是搭腦和扶手都探出頭的椅式家具，其造型像古代官員的帽子而得名，所以稱為四出頭官帽椅。另一種是南官帽椅，南官帽椅是明式家具的代表作之一，南官帽椅的特點(diǎn)是搭腦的兩端和兩個(gè)扶手的前端均不出頭，但搭腦仍向后凹進(jìn)，形似官帽，又因?yàn)槟戏降慕硯煻嘀谱鞔祟惞倜币危史Q之為南官帽椅，南官帽椅也是明式扶手椅的代表式樣之一。

椅盤以上為圓材，以下外圓里方。搭腦造形彎弧美觀，中成枕形，三彎靠背板正面、背面的紋理皆流暢美觀，中上部圓形開光內(nèi)鏟地浮雕壽字紋。扶手稍稍外彎，在體現(xiàn)威嚴(yán)感為主的格調(diào)下，又兼顧乘坐的舒適性。后腿上截以挖煙袋鍋的造法連接搭腦兩端，向下穿過椅盤成為腿足，一木連做；前腿亦為相同造法。扶手與前腿鵝脖同樣以挖煙袋鍋榫的造法連接，椅盤邊抹中部凹進(jìn)，下有穿帶支承。椅盤下正面牙板鎪壸門輪廓線，側(cè)面安沿邊起線，背面則裝光素刀牙板。腿間施步步高趕棖，腳踏與兩側(cè)棖下各安一素牙條。整器形體高大，典雅精致。
