傳世六面印實(shí)物較少，連同其余五個(gè)印面故稱六面印，傳世六面印的一種典型風(fēng)格為帶邊白文，密上疏下，印文豎筆多引長(zhǎng)下垂，末端尖細(xì)，猶如懸針，所以有懸針篆的俗名，這種風(fēng)格雖然尚有筆意舒展、疏密相映的好處。除了正印其余的圖畫入印自戰(zhàn)國(guó)到漢魏都有，以漢代為盛，又稱肖形印或象形印，除了人物、鳥獸、車騎、吉羊、魚雁等圖案外，常見(jiàn)以吉羊的四靈(龍、虎、雀、(鳳、龜)等入印的，這類印又稱為"四靈或者五印"，所以此印章又叫六面五靈印。
