孫中山先生是中國革命的先行者,帶領辛亥革命推翻帝制,建立資產階級共和國。孫中山的事跡和品格深深影響了我們后人,是一名杰出的政治家、革命家、思想家,此枚中華民國伍元紀念幣記錄了當時中國革命的先鋒歷史。該枚為中華民國十八年伍元(公元1929年)天津造幣廠試鑄樣幣。直徑為45.1,重36.3克。正面上鐫"中華民國十八年"7字,下鐫孫中山先生西服半身像;背面鐫有三帆,正中間豎鐫"伍圓"2字。南京國民政府成立后,為開鑄新國幣,區別于袁世凱像舊國幣,邀請英、美、意、奧、日五國造幣廠刻制統一的以孫中山像為主要特征的樣幣。該幣正面為孫中山面像,上環列中華民國十八年,背面有三帆船,左右分列伍圓面值。因為通貨膨脹,銀價飛漲,為了和銀價對等,國民政府決定發行伍元銀幣,但當樣幣出來時,銀價瘋狂增值,政府嚴重虧損,所以就只發行了幾千枚,因此在如今的市場上更是極為罕見。
