“船洋”是指國民政府在上世紀30年代鑄造的海洋帆船圖案銀幣的俗稱。在中國近代發(fā)行的上千種老銀幣中，其影響僅次于“袁大頭”銀幣。

1933年3月，國民黨政府財政部頒布了《廢兩改元令》和《銀本位鑄造條例》，決定結(jié)束各省分鑄銀元的局面，將銀幣的鑄造權(quán)收歸于設(shè)在上海的中央造幣廠，并決定先從上海實施廢兩改元，規(guī)定從當年4月6日起，所有公私款項的收付，須一律改用銀幣，不得再用銀兩交易。同年，一種新式的銀幣——“船洋”開始在上海中央造幣廠鑄造。

此幣，其外觀圖案比較精美，錢幣正面上邊標注著“中華民國二十二年”的字樣，環(huán)繞在孫中山側(cè)身像的上方。而錢幣背面展現(xiàn)的是一幅美輪美奐的雙桅帆船放洋圖，兩側(cè)則標注了該枚錢幣的面值——“伍元”。也正因為如此，這版銀元也被稱為帆船銀元。
