黃云原名黃祖江,廣東新會人。1931年9月出生于廣東恩平。擅長國畫山水畫、壁畫,特點質樸深厚、清新雅逸、裝飾性強,富有生活氣息,被譽為“北墨南韻”的畫家,五十年代便有雕塑、宣傳畫、漫畫、版畫等作品發表和參加省市及全國美展。1959年進入中央工藝美術學院攻讀壁畫專業本科,1964年畢業留校任教。1972年應約為《光明日報》、《人民中國》等報刊撰寫評論文章。1974年調回廣州美術工作室任國畫組組長。1980年廣州中國畫會成立,選為副會長。1982年廣州畫院成立,為畫院專業畫家,院務委員兼國畫組組長。同時,在廣州美術學院兼教授。
Huang Yun, formerly known as Huang Zujiang, is from Xinhui, Guangdong Province. Born in September 1931 in Enping, Guangdong Province. He is good at traditional Chinese painting, landscape painting and mural painting, with simple and profound characteristics, fresh and elegant, strong decoration and rich life atmosphere. He is known as the painter of "northern ink and southern rhyme". In the 1950s, there were sculptures, posters, comics, prints and other works published and participated in provincial, municipal and national art exhibitions. In 1959, he entered the Central Academy of Arts and crafts to study mural, and in 1964, he graduated to stay in school. In 1972, he was invited to write review articles for Guangming Daily, people's China and other newspapers. In 1974, he was transferred back to Guangzhou Art Studio as the leader of the traditional Chinese painting group. In 1980, Guangzhou Chinese Painting Association was established and elected as vice president. In 1982, Guangzhou Academy of painting was established as a professional painter, academician and group leader of traditional Chinese painting. At the same time, he is also a professor in Guangzhou Academy of fine arts.
