咸豐重寶當十是以銅為材質鑄造于咸豐年間，當時該錢幣為了咸豐重寶，咸豐元寶和咸豐通寶三種之間的區分，就以當五十計值，高于當五十計值的稱為“咸豐元寶”，低于當五十及以下計值稱為“咸豐重寶”，剩下的就是小平錢咸豐通寶，所有的錢幣鑄造都十分精美，鐫刻在上面的字跡清晰俊秀，銅的材質優良，錢幣整體簡潔大方，精致，比之前以銅為材質的錢幣直徑大些，重量重一些。
